about uzima

Preserving Life, With Dignity.

In the heart of the Ezimbuzini Informal Settlement in Soweto, there is a movement happening. Uzima South Africa—which means 'Life' in Swahili—is doing the heavy lifting that changes the trajectory of an entire community.

With over 1,000 households and 5,700 people facing the daily realities of limited services, unemployment, and safety challenges, Uzima stands as a critical beacon of hope. Through their four pillars of support—Education, Nutritional Security, Health & Hygiene, and Psychosocial Care—they are doing more than just providing aid; they are creating a foundation for a resilient, self-sufficient Soweto.

Whether it’s serving 500 balanced meals a day to ensure hunger never stands in the way of a child’s education, or providing psychosocial care to help residents navigate the challenges of daily life, Uzima is truly "Preserving Life with Dignity."

At GP Media, we believe that success isn't just measured by the campaigns we run or the brands we position—it’s measured by how we show up for the communities we call home. We are incredibly proud that our director, Gavin Prins, serves as Uzima’s marketing manager. This collaboration is our agency’s way of giving back, lending our strategic voice and media expertise to amplify a cause that matters more than any headline.

We don’t just want to build brands; we want to build futures. Supporting Uzima is our commitment to ensuring that the next generation in Ezimbuzini has the safety, the nutrition, and the education they need to thrive.
